♡ B) breaking the ice with an askmeme hello
Inbox me a “♡” (no peeking!) and I will randomly generate a number between 1 and 20 and write you a drabble. Mixture of unadulterated tooth-rotting fluff, potentially nfsw and “flangst” (fluffy angst) prompts!
4 - showing up late for a date.

[ maka was running for dear life. – she was never late! this was so
unlike her. but it wasn’t like it was her fault! her father had strangely
found out about the ‘date’ she was going on with crona and kept
trying to stall her from actually making it to the arrangement simply
because he refused to accept the fact that his little girl was growing
up. the kind of drama spirit seemed to create on a daily basis over
small and insignificant things the technician does, he claimed that
going with crona was dangerous and that it could be trap. but maka
as usual didn’t listen, mostly because she didn’t believe it. after all
she got along really well with crona and it wasn’t like he wasn’t nice,
plus she thought that strangely they had more things in common
than meets the eye. — after all their souls resonated once, that
    must mean something, right?

she felt terrible for crona he was probably panicking because he
thought maka was going to leave him stood up, she seriously
hoped he didn’t leave already because she couldn’t stand the
idea of making him feel bad because of her father’s reckless
actions. olive orbs spot his silhouette from afar and she tries
her best to reach him fast enough to stop him from worrying.
once she does reach him all she does is bow down, releasing
heavy breaths from all the running and then her hands clasp
   together apologetically. ]

image

                    “i’m so sorry i’m late, crona!! –
my dad was being an idiot, again and he
made me late. i hope you’re not mad?”

◤ Was he really such an open book…? Or, perhaps
it was simply that Maka was intuitive regarding
those that she cared for. After all, their soul
wavelengths had resonated, once upon a time.
Certainly she must have some semblance of an
idea as to how his unstable mind sought answers.

He pursed his pallid lips softly, turning his gaze
aside as digits so thin and frail they could pass
for bones fidgeted in the dark folds of his lap.
“…I-I…I think I’ll…try to read it again l-later.”
After all, he couldn’t rely on Maka for everything
forever, now could he? “…B-but…thank you.
          Hey, Maka? Uhm…a-after class…uh…a-are
you…doing anything? Black Star said that
          there’s gonna be a basketball game, and…”

image

[ it’s not his problem. maka has the ability to do this with
everyone whom she considers close to her, mostly because
she cares and wants to help which would be the latter. plus,
with crona it was a different type of thing their wavelengths
had resonated once which perhaps didn’t make them that
different from each other. – somehow. probably because
most times maka isn’t as certain as she sounds, yet, she
pretends because it gives other the feeling of safety which
is something she lives to provide.

the ashy blonde will simply give a nod in reaction to his words,
it was only normal that he wanted to get this one by himself. she
didn’t like it when others tried to solve her problems for her
either. she’s about to turn to her own work once again before
her ears perk up to the sound of crona addressing her once
again. she’ll give a shake of her head, lips curving into a soft
     smile. ]

"i’m not doing anything special after class. –
if you want me to keep you company during the
basketball match i don’t mind, either.”

Dammit. So he would have to find his home
town on his own. What a shame. Still running
away from those dreadful Unowns. They
terrified him. Haunted him, and wanted
                           him to die.

                                ❝ Ah, that’s alright. I guess I can

He just wanted to get away fast.

[ although she was clearly annoyed by the
presence of this outsider in the beginning.
she can’t help but feel a tiny bit of guilt lingering
within her for not trying any harder to help him, because
after all she was in this academy to help people. – mostly
help people get rid of soul consuming demons but, it’s almost
the same thing. she’ll stand up and motion the outsider to
   follow her. ]

"i’m sure there must be a map around here. –
you’re currently in death city, so your hometown

[ she’s just going to release a frustrated groan,
maka was seriously not in the mood to put up with
soul’s irresponsibility specially when they clearly
had training to get to so they could catch the 99 demon
souls they had lost because of that damn tricky cat. ]

She may or may not sound like a maniac.
But her weapon may or may not sound like a fucking shark.
Not following — naturally — but God can that boy pretend.
————— or at least entertain the thought of trying.

          —— no comprende.
            You high or somethin’, lady?

image

[ she’s just going to wrinkle her nose at the strange
man. – he looks like he’s not even paying proper
attention to what she’s saying, typical of the male species. –
really. it’s going to take all the self-control in her small frame
not to physically assault you right now. ]

                      “of course i’m not high,
                        i’m clearly looking for someone.”

The degree to which her ire rose, nearly matching that of the
volume her voice reached, genuinely startled the weapon; a feat
in itself. His slacker behavior almost never failed to agitate her,
but he couldn’t recall the last time he’d seen the twin-tailed
Meister so virulent and…honestly angry. She had a temper, that
was inarguable, but…this was different. His brows drew together
in a deep crease as she pinched the bridge of her nose in
palpable exasperation and turned on her heels to hurry away.

Selfish… was he, really? He was always willing to die for his
Meister at any given moment, and the scar that seared across
his chest was proof enough of that… and yet, he couldn’t even
drag himself out of bed an hour earlier to ensure she remained
at her standing? He never thought he failed to act responsibly
as her weapon… but when it came to school, perhaps that
wasn’t true. He was a reflection of her as her partner… maybe..
skipping class wasn’t so cool after all.

image

Heaving a sigh, he swung his legs over the edge of the bed
and padded across the treated wood of his floor after her.
“…Maka.” He harrowed her on her way out, catching her at the
door frame and shouldering past her without taking the time to
make eye contact; he was too cool to outright admit that he was
wrong about anything. So instead, he simply insisted; “…lemme
get it this time. What do you want for breakfast?”

image

[ as soon as she turns around to leave the room, maka instantly
regrets each and every insult that she spat out at him. – soul
being lazy wasn’t something new for her. yes, it did get her
worked up but she realizes that she had absolutely no right to call
him selfish when he’s willing to risk his own life for her. but it
seems like most times the honey blonde allows her temper to
get the best of her and ends up saying things she doesn’t mean.
soul was irresponsible but he was by far the least selfish person
maka has ever met, and perhaps she should learn to be more
tolerant instead of exploding like that. – such an irrational and
immature thing to do, so unlike her logical and know-it-all self.

she should apologize to him, shouldn’t she? after all, they were
best friends and best friends don’t yell at each other like that,
right? but it seems like the technician is taken back by her own
pride and remains quiet. that is until he pierces the silence and
shoulders right past her. she figures he’s mad at her for saying
such lies, and he had the right to after all he’s gotten a scar
across his chest because a while back she had been careless,
not to mention the countless times he’s risked his life to save
    her.

but the thing is, he isn’t. perhaps maybe both of them had made
a mistake today and realized it. unlike him, widened olive hues
search for his back turned on her as she looks up. ]

                                                  “… – soul.”

[ that’s all she can mumble for now, at least he’s taken initiative
of actually doing something and somehow that makes her feel
accomplished even if she said some hurtful things. – she’ll talk
about that later. lips curve into a dim smile before she walks
a bit closer to him, closing the distance between them and
allows her hand to rest on his shoulder. her smile grows a bit
wider to let him know she’s not mad anymore. ]

                          “it’s okay, i’ll help you. –
you know i actually like cooking, plus,
we can’t risk you burning down the house.”
