⊰☠⊱ Kid retracted his arm back to his side, slipping his hand into the pocket of his pants. He can’t help but smirk shortly after Maka’s scoff. Friendly teasing was a rather enjoyable activity made better when the other party seemed to realize the jab made at them. Raising his eyebrows, Kid’s expression softened. Oh? It also seemed as if Maka had a good understanding as to why the young Death God would dislike a book. However, in this case that wasn’t exactly it. Shaking his head gently, Kid gave a single chuckle low from the back of his throat. “In the case of books, an even number of pages is preferable. Having the last page end on a multiple of eight is perfection, but I can’t complain much if the story itself was well written. Although, having a book end on an odd number does bother me greatly I’ll admit.“ he explained, "Your book there is my least favorite simply because one of the side characters was killed off for shock value. To me, it’s a poor example of writing.”
He stepped aside whilst picking his own book up with his free hand to give Maka her seat back. Albeit blunt, Kid’s mannerisms were far from rude. “Anyway, I hope you’ll forgive me for taking your seat. I didn’t see the book there in the first place.” he said, his voice carrying an apologetic tone.
[ the technician holds the book against her chest as she awaits for an equally witty response coming from the young shinigami. if there was something maka has always been good at, that would be reading people and somehow understanding them. it wasn’t like she thought they were predictable, she liked to blame her sixth sense for that, plus, she thought she knew kid partially well, after all they’ve gone on missions together before and they are good friends, at least she considers him that. eyebrows arch ever so slightly underneath honey blonde bangs towards his response, a look of amusement taking over girlish features. for some reason she found whatever he had to say interesting, probably because he had a different perspective of things. ]
"you didn’t even have to mention that, i had already predicted it. but well, i suppose your argument is valid and you do have a point there but i enjoy the plot even if the author felt the need to kill someone to spice it up. – happens with a lot of books.“
[ maka gives a shrug, she wasn’t bothered by his criticism after all people had different opinions and when it comes to literature that is something she is able to understand. – plus, she’s happy to have someone she can have this type of conversation with. a shake of her head is given once he apologizes taking her seat, she had forgotten that already to be honest. ]
"you don’t have to apologize, it’s okay. – i probably shouldn’t have left it there in the first place.”
The younger girl would fail to notice Maka until the small sound of her sigh, and bright pink locks of hair bounce as she turns to face the older girl. In finding a place to sit, she hadn’t realized she had sat on someone else’s book— though it is suddenly very easy to feel now.
❝—— Oh, I’m sorry—❞ she shifts in her seat, small fingers latching onto the spine of the book to slide it out from beneath her. A small, curious glance is passed at the title before she holds it out.
❝I didn’t realize it was here.❞
[ once she steps closer to the petite pinkette sitting on the place she was sat at. – the technician’s expression softens, seeing as it’s a younger girl and she probably hadn’t noticed that the book was there because maka was planning on coming back and sit there once again after being bothered by her father. she’ll simply give a shake of her head, towards the girl’s apology. ]
“ — no need to apologize, it’s perfectly fine.”
[ she gives the girl a wide grin as an attempt of redeeming herself for the rough approach, everyone knew that the honey blonde had a temper and that was her favorite book, but the poor girl probably had no idea. a wane arm extends so she can grasp the book back and hold it against her chest, that smile still hasn’t been wiped off her features. ]
"it’s fine. – it’s not like it’s the first time this happens.“
[ the meister assures, and taking a closer and perhaps more attentive look at the girl. – she realizes that she’s never seen her around before, perhaps she’s lost. ]
"i’ve never seen you around death city before. are you lost?”
